So recently….
I have recently appeared on the Television, not as a passing extra as usual but actually having a chance to share a part of me. The first programme was shown on BBC1 and was episode 4 of the Marvellous Miniatures Series. I spoke of the Central Club in Reading, where I grew up and the deep roots that the now derelict building holds. The sweet memories of music, community, laughter, sharing moments, memories and eating together. A real communal space where you could just be yourself and loud talking and animated speeches were just part of the fabric. I will put a link to the episode and in it you can see the great influence my father and his Caribbean life style had on me.
It was only after recording the show and having to relive my own story that I realised how blessed I was to have what we had as a family.
The second time was on ITV the Royal Variety Charity Performance 2025 where I was sharing my story of living with depression. I used to be ashamed of it and would mask a lot but now I accept that I am a work in progress. You have good and bad days. Many people will not admit or even realise that they are in a depression and many are in denial. I have learned to live with it as it is too hard to fight it.
